Volunteering

I've had several people ask me what sort of things NBN4Oz will need help with. As a matter of information, I thought I'd list some of the things/people I foresee needing now and in the future.

Job Prospects

Graphic Designer/Enthusiast- Design of a logo (ideas already permeating), website and virtual flyers.

Website Designer/Maintenance- Self-explanatory. I have limited skills myself, but am willing to learn.

Moderators- Comments-  People who are serious about forums and are willing to both moderate comments and produce new discussion topics.

Moderators- Website- People who are willing to put the work in and to be in the authoritative position of controlling links, pages, content and design of various aspects of the new site.

Researchers- This is a fairly casual job that involves trawling the net, almost as a matter of day-to-day news reading, but ensuring any relevant links, articles, ideas and so on get passed on to moderators to be analysed and possibly included in the site. Anyone will be welcome to perform this, no experience necessary.

PR- If the group begins to generate some interest in the general public (kind of the point) the group may need someone to handle any queries, of a public information or group information nature, as well as any requests for permission to quote a group or group members work. Eventually, if group members speak on radio or to the press, this will also need to be properly organised.

Experts- This is more of an open ended invitation for industry people. Networking, telecommunications, IT etc. I'd like to have some people onside who have knowledge and inside industry knowledge particularly, who would be willing to share their points of view, backed up by experience and evidence, to further the group's goals. I'm not looking for some random "back of the book" quote of "this group is great- best ever!" just because it comes from an "expert."  I'm looking for people who are genuinely interested in being a part of the survival of the NBN in its' current form, regardless of the next elections.

These are the ones I can think of at the moment. There is also a call out for anyone who has hosting services available. In the beginning, there will be little if any money available except out of people's own pocket, so any available hosting for the website would be appreciated.

I intend to keep this list updated on a more specific basis when we have need of specific help.

If anyone has these skills, would be willing to learn or simply wants to help out in a way I haven't thought of yet, please email NBN4Oz@gmail.com.

Cheers
